Find out which activities and unique experiences you can live during a stay in Dozza!
We have thought of this mini guide to help you build an unforgettable itinerary!
The beautiful spring days of April and May see all the nature awakening inside and outside the walls of the village; take long walks, on foot or by bicycle, stop for one of the special cafes in the village, a typical lunch in a tavern… and why not even a visit to the wine shop to taste the wines that make these hills so famous.
This is why we have decided to guide you through a step-by-step path… In order not to miss any detail of Dozza and the treasures it contains.
Are you ready? Let’s go!
Arrival in Dozza: where to start?
First of all you need to park! The parking lots outside the village are free and are respectively located in Piazza Andrea Costa (in front of the medieval entrance to the village) and in Piazza Fontana (behind the Sforza fortress; the car park has spaces for campers too!)
On the other hand, it is not possible to park inside the walls, but only to transit.
After parking, the best thing to do is to immerse yourself in the streets of the village and start the tour of the Painted Wall! Click here to find out more about its history!
Every corner hides a mural that will surprise and enchant you. We are sure that you will fill the memory of your camera with a myriad of beautiful shots! You can follow the circular route that starts from the medieval entrance and goes up via XX Settembre, crossing the Montmartre square, the arcades and Piazza Zotti, up to the Rocca. After that, turning left, the road goes down and back, taking you through other painted wonders
Coffee break and then … to the museum!
At this point you will have a little peckish! And what’s better than a good coffee sitting on the porch, with the music that mingles in the air together with the scent of freshly baked bread from the Dozza oven?
At the Caffè dell’Osteria, in via XX Settembre 24 you will find this and more: In fact it is a must to taste the delicious special coffees of the village … try it!
After the break, the Rocca di Dozza awaits you to let you explore all the noble rooms, courtyards, walkways, prisons and towers. From the top of the latter you can admire a wonderful panorama … but be careful: it is said that the Dragon Fyrstan is asleep right in one of the towers.
It will wake up on 22 and 23 May on the occasion of FANTASTIKA … An unmissable event for fans of fantasy and illustration!
Wine shop and lunch (or dinner)!
Walking and exploring makes you hungry. At this point you can choose whether to head for a traditional Romagna hot dish and postpone the visit to the Regional Enoteca of Emilia Romagna… or go down the stairs inside the Rocca and find out immediately which wines you prefer, even from bring home!
Much depends on the time of day you have chosen for the visit, so we are sure you will be able to evaluate the correct temporal succession of our suggestions!
The wine shop is located in the cellars of the Rocca and offers a vast selection of wines from all over the region; The most famous wine in Dozza, however, is certainly Albana, whose vineyards surround the village. It will probably be difficult to find elsewhere so it could be an idea for an original souvenir or gift.
You can also taste a selection of white and red wines that change periodically directly in the wine shop.
But let’s move on to lunch! (or dinner)
Obviously we suggest you the Osteria di Dozza! (you can book a table at 0542678200) and choose whether to eat under the porch outside, on the terrace, or in the main room whose walls are a real triumph of unforgettable artistic works and cinematographic references … we leave you as a taste only one photos, but also the Osteria is a stop not to be missed!
